Rebecca Dumapias Paular, 75, of Torrance, passed away February 23, 2013 in Harbor City, California.
Visitation will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes on Friday March 1, 2013 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held at the chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park on March 2, 2013 at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Nancy Johnson officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow.
Rebecca was born in the Philippines to Minerva and Florencio Dumapias in 1937. She attended Los Angeles City College after immigrating to the United States, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Cal State LA. She wrote "The Younger Set" column for the Associated Filipino Press, and was an active member of the Filipino Junior Women's club. Motivated by a deep passion for those in need, she founded a ministry to feed the homeless at Alondra Park in the 1980's. In recent years, she was focused on a national phone prayer circle ministry and 1-on-1 prayer.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Florencio and Minerva, and one brother, Virgil.
Rebecca is survived by her husband Paul of Torrance, sisters Ely (Eugene), Fe, and Lorna; brothers Florencio (Rufe), Rudy (Eva), Jesse (Jo); son Anthony (Shannon), daughters Cynthia (Bryan), Doralinda, Gina (Scott), and Jessilyn (Paul); and eight grandchildren Jasmine, Ashley, Miranda, Sophia, Frank, Kennedy, Alyssa, and Lila.
Rebecca Paular was someone who gave of her time and money to all in her life who had need.
