Rebecca “Becky” L. Mendes (March 22, 1947 - November 11, 2019) has passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Along with cancer, she also suffered from dementia.
She grew up in San Pedro, California, making many life-long friends. Eventually, she moved to Torrance, where she met her future husband, Richard. It was love at first sight. They were married at the Wayfarers Chapel on November 11, 1967. They spent many years together living in the city of Lomita with their family.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved parties, casinos, playing poker games on the weekend, dancing, laughing and chit chatting with those she cared about. She was very giving, generous, passionate and caring. She loved spending time with her children and five grandchildren, whether it was taking care of them, going on special trips or shopping together.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, her son Richard and his wife Dena, daughter Qiana and her husband Stuart, and five grandchildren—Melissa, Mia, Richard (“Zeke”), Alicia and Jeremy.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, at Green Hills Memorial Park, located at 27501 South Western Avenue Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
