Ray Yano, 81, passed away on January 20, 2023.
Born in Honolulu, as the second of five children to Masao and Akiyo Yano, he remained a local boy at heart. After serving in the Air Force, Ray worked for over 45 years as a mechanic for American Airlines.
He met his wife, Elaine, of 54 years in Honolulu and settled in Gardena, California. He took numerous vacations back to Hawaii to visit family, indulge his four kids in swimming and shave ice, and join his extended family for picnics at Ala Moana Park.
He loved watching baseball and football, no matter the team. The craps tables drew him into Vegas for many years. He nurtured a lifelong love of cars – washing and tinkering with them.
He will be missed by his wife and four children: Kathy [Steve] Wakisaka, Christie [John] Yoshinaga, Jason [Lori] Yano, and Cheryl Yano, three grandchildren & granddogs.
