Ray was born on May 15, 1921, 90 and ½ years ago in Tehachapi, CA.
He graduated from Jacob Riis High School in Los Angeles.
In late 1939, 19 year old Ray Bright met 15 year old Dorothy Dilts at the Culver City Roller skating rink. He started dating Dorothy and in less than 6 months they eloped and were married on May 26, 1940. Ray and Dorothy were married 71 and ½ years.
Ray, feeling the patriotic need to help his country, joined the Navy in 1941. After the war was over, he was honorably discharged.
Upon returning to civilian life in 1945, Ray worked with his father, Ray Jay Bright, Sr. who owned an electric motor shop named Standard Electric Service. When his father passed, Ray Junior took over the business. Ray Junior worked at that business through 1995, over 50 years. His wife Dorothy worked in the business for 43 of those years with "Ray Jay" as she called him.
Ray's passion in life, other than Dorothy, was racing. From go carts to Drag racing to Sprint Cars. He and his son Larry (who was the driver) worked together building and racing carts, cars and rails. Ray and Larry loved racing and raced with many people who became very good friends, many who are here today.
Ray and Dorothy had two children, Nancy and Larry, who have already passed into God's Kingdom.
Ray is survived by his wife Dorothy, 4 grandchildren, Shelly, Ray, James, Craig; 6 great grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole, Jarett, James Jr., Jonathan and C.J. and 1 great great grandson, Dominic.
