Raquel Suarez

Raquel was born in San Pedro on July 29,1930 to her parents, Ygnacio & Paula Rivera. She grew up in San Pedro and attended Barton Hill Elementary, Dana Junior High and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1948. She met her husband, Richard, when they were teenagers and were married on December 30, 1950. They moved to Wilmington and started their family. She loved to travel with her husband and family. There were many camping trips enjoyed with family and friends. She was an avid UCLA Bruin and LA Dodger fan and shared season tickets for many years. She loved to bowl and was in weekly leagues and tournaments with her sister. She loved her many visits to the casino when traveling got hard for her. She always got excited to tell her friends that she had 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She loved to attend every sporting event and school function of theirs. Raquel passed away quietly in her home. She is survived by her son, Larry; in laws, Julie (Richard), Octavio (Joanne) Barbara (Michael) and Ron (Robbie) who lived with them for awhile, grandchildren, David (Megan), Michael, Gina (Nick), Jeffrey (Vanessa), Brian (Rejane), Lisa (Sandy), Rudy and Megan; great grandchildren, Zachary, Christopher, Milo, Olivia, Nora, Ella, Samuel, EJ, Nicole, Jax, Ava and Veda and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Evangeline and Alice, her husband Richard and her children, Richard Jr., Michael, Joanne, Suzanne and Patricia. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers that made her life a little more comfortable. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7th from 5-8:30pm and Funeral services will be Friday, December 8th at 2:00pm with graveside following at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
