Pierre Felix Dumas (91) of Rancho Palos Verdes, California has passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Pierre was born on October 10, 1927 in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, the son of Cruz and Concepcion Dumas. In 1946, at the age of 19, Pierre joined his family in Los Angeles which consisted of his widowed mother (Concepcion), two sisters, Bertha (deceased and Martha. Pierre graduated from Francis Polytechnic High in Los Angeles in 1949.
Pierre was drafted into the US Army in 1949, and proudly served as an infantryman from 1950 to 1952 within the Korean War. Upon his honorable and combat decorated discharge in 1952, Pierre began his professional education and career at Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, California.
In 1957, Pierre met and wed Gloria Cecile Inzunza (Glendale, CA), and purchased their home in Inglewood, CA. Pierre graduated from NIT, and began working at Douglas Aircraft for a brief time, until he was hired at Northrop Corporation as a Design Engineer. Pierre supported many vital jet aircraft such as; the T-38 Trainer, F-5 Fighter, F-20, YF-17, F-18 Fighter, and the B-2 Bomber. His contributions to the nation, these aircraft, and skilled engineering were highly recognized within the aerospace industry. Pierre loved to spend time with his family and friends, including occasional trips to Mexico and Europe. Pierre was an avid engineer and able to repair cars, clocks, mechanical and electrical appliances, as well as teach others his skills. His garage contained many tools, and he enjoyed passing on how to use them to anyone interested in learning. Pierre was a devoted Roman Catholic and member of Holy Trinity parish, and Little Sisters of the Poor (San Pedro).
Pierre and Gloria celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in February, 2018. He is survived by his wife (Gloria Cecile Inzunza), his four children: Rene Francis Dumas (Marquita Mack) of Edmonds, Washington and her kids: Sean, Christina, and Monique. Gabrielle Louis McFarland (Gary McFarland) of Rancho Palos Verdes, California and her kids: Tiffany (Dwight Kay), Jack, Charlie, Timothy (Kat) and Steven. Sophie Diane Pearson (John Pearson) of San Francisco, California. Robert James Dumas (Maria Giovanna Dominique) of San Pedro, California and kids: Michael, Matthew, Patrick, and Lina.
A Vigil service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019, 7pm and Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10am, both at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, San Pedro.
