Phyllis F. Garcia (Diaz)

Dearest mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was reunited with her husband on the morning of 4/30/13. Phyllis was born on Terminal Island on 1/14/1921 and was a lifelong resident of San Pedro. After marrying Edmund Garcia, she worked for 23 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District as a teacher's aide. She volunteered at the Seaman Center, Shriners Hospital, and served as a Girl Scout leader for 12 years. After retiring, Phyllis enjoyed being an active member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine in the Bouloues clown unit and the Royal Order of Talonetts, an Order associated with the Scottish Rite. Phyllis is survived by her daughters Olivia Garcia and Judy Garcia; 6 grandchildren Patricia Hodgin, Jim Doufas, Aliki Doufas, Felicia Wilkins, Joyelle Wilkins, and William Wilkins Jr.; and 3 great-grandchildren Christina Reyes, Alexis Reyes, and Jeffrey Butler Jr. Visitation will be held at Green Hills on Friday May 3, 2013 from 3-8pm. Services will also be held at Green Hills on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 1pm.
