Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 for Peter Gustav Moosmann of Tennessee, formerly a Torrance resident for over 30 years.
The son of Gustav Gottlieb Moosmann and Mary Lucille Smith, he was born in Evanston, Illinois in 1935 and passed away on December 2, 2013 in Germantown, Tennessee at the age of 78. He graduated from Drake University in Iowa and earned a Master degree from UCLA in journalism. He began his career as an independent writer for the aerospace and defense industries. When that industry began to change, he became an independent businessman, establishing what became a successful freight trucking company. He later worked for Flying Tigers cargo airlines in Los Angeles for many years doing compliance and auditing both domestically and internationally. When Flying Tigers was acquired by FedEx, he relocated to Memphis Tennessee in the early 1990s where he retired from FedEx in 2003. Peter loved landscaping and enjoyed tending to his beautiful garden. He was an avid reader with an interest in history and business topics. He was a lifelong fan of both stock car and sprint car racing.
Peter is preceeded in death by Mary A. Moosmann, whom he was married to for 39 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Martha Moosmann of Tennessee, a son, Christopher of Virginia, two daughters, Laurie of Mission Viejo, California and Sarah of Pleasanton, California; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter, along with Martha's son Robert and daughter Martha Kellye, and Martha's two grandchildren.
Interment alongside his wife Mary will immediately follow the graveside services at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes.
