Pete Castaneda A.K.A "Popeye Castaneda"

Pete “Popeye” Castaneda passed away peacefully alongside family on January 19, 2022. A lifelong resident of San Pedro, CA, Popeye was the son of Fortunato and Celestina Castaneda. He was one of 11 children; Raul +, Angie +, Joe +, Pat, Lambert, Louie + Mary Dora, Charlie +, Ernie, and Elizabeth. He joined the army and served abroad for 3 years, and shortly after started a family. He was preceded in death by his children Johnny and Mary (Resa). He is survived by his wife Lucy and children Helen, Debbie, Evelyn (Mike) and Paul (Susan). He was blessed with many grandchildren who brought him so much pride and joy especially in his later years. He was also happiest attending USC football games with his children. Popeye made many lifelong friends in San Pedro through school, playing and coaching sports and community. He will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to be a part of his life. All services will be held at Green Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes; visitation services will be held February 17th at 4:30 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass and burial services will be held February 18th at 11:30 am.
