Paz Guisande Arevalo was a remarkable woman. She was born on July 4, 1930, in the city of Manila, Philippines. She moved to the US during her twenties and raised three children alone. Her husband Flore, was often away at sea with the US Navy. Years later, she helped raise her oldest granddaughter Marie. Paz worked as an LVN in the intensive care nursery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for 23 years and retired in 1991. During retirement Paz and Flore took many vacation tours around the world. Paz was a feisty little woman who was always singing and dancing while she cooked, cleaned, and tended her rose garden. Paz loved her family dearly. She had a long life and was able to get to know her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Paz battled dementia in the last few years. On March 1, 2020 she peacefully passed on, and finally reunited with Flore in heaven (who had passed in 2001). She is survived by her children: Theresa, Anthony, and Edward; grandchildren: Marie, James, Remy, Elizabeth, Decker, Brian, and Peter Greer; and one great-granddaughter: Ariel.
THE ROSARY/VIEWING SERVICE & FUNERAL CANCELLED
The Rosary/Viewing Service and Funeral Mass has been cancelled as a result of the new coronavirus guidelines announced by President Trump and his coronavirus White House Staff. This prompted the Los Angeles Archdioceses to notify all it Parishes to suspend all Masses until further notice. All we can do is have a Private Immediate Familes Service and Burial. It is with our deepest regret that we must ask our Family and friends not to attend the Service nor Burial. Unfortunately we have also cancelled the simulcast since the Rosary and Celebration tribute has been cancelled too. The only Request we can offer you would be to link on to our Memorial Page after Tuesday, 3/24/20 where we will have more pictures and a Eulogy from the Private Services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and ask that you pray for our Mother Paz’s Eternal Rest in Heaven. May God Bless you all!
