In the early morning of Thursday, March 2, 2023, Paula Crivello, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, quietly passed away in her sleep at the young age of 68. God called her home, and she passed away without warning.
Paula was born on September 26, 1954, … exactly 9 full months and 6 days after her parents were married. She was the oldest of (9) children, and proudly held that role for her siblings. As the traditional Daddy’s Girl, Paula lived her entire life staking claim to be “Daughter of Aqua D’Mare” as the fire that propelled her to take risks in life. When the family moved from Porticello, Sicily, to America in 1973, Paula and the older brothers were anchors in settling the family finally in San Pedro, where she worked tirelessly and unselfishly to support her family, and we are all very grateful to her.
Paula’s greatest achievement in life is bringing her 2 loving sons into the world: Gian Paolo (aka JP) and Christian (aka Tati). They were her entire life, and she dedicated every minute to feeding them well, clothing them like little princes, and ensuring they had every opportunity academically, in sports, and to grow in their faith. Paula was their biggest cheerleader in life, and will forever be remembered on the sidelines yelling, “Wake up, Son!” She was a long-time parishioner at Holy Trinity where both boys served as Altar boys. Paula joyfully shared the same devotion to her older grandchildren, leaving her mark on this world in the legacy she leaves in her grandchildren Paola, Gian Paolo (Little JP), Christian, Matteo, Antonino, and baby Massimo.
Paula poured her heart into her surgical tech work in the hospitals, and later in her career, enjoyed teaching and sharing her knowledge with students that absolutely admired her. She made time to volunteer in church and to support causes passionately.
Her laughter and her love of slapstick comedy and jokebooks are a few of the things her siblings and nephews and nieces will miss most. Paula is preceded in death by her parents Mariano and Giovanna Crivello. She is survived by her adoring sons GianPaolo (Marin) and Christian, their children, and her siblings Giuseppe (Teresa), Antonino (Marilyn), Sal (Emma), Carmelo (Lili), Josephine (Mario), Mario (Sandra), Mary (Ediz) along with all their children.
A Viewing/Rosary service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Holy Trinity Parish Center Auditorium in San Pedro at 5pm. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Pedro at 10am.
