Paul Z Paular

December 30, 1932 — December 12, 2023

Paul Zamora Paular was born in 1932 to Paul I. Paular and Felicidad Arca. The third of four sons, Paul grew up in Stockton, CA, where he learned to play clarinet and worked in his father’s diner. As a teenager, he followed his older brothers Ray and Jerry to spend summers working at a cannery in Alaska.

Paul was a proud veteran. He served in the U.S. Army in the mid-1950’s, stationed in post-WWII Germany. He often told stories of marching for hours through the German countryside and of his time guarding prisoners in Nuremberg. In 1999, he returned to Germany to visit many places he knew during his time in the army.

After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University, Paul embarked on a career in aerospace. He worked at Aerojet, McDonnell Douglas, and Hughes Aircraft before joining Northrop Grumman. He is known for his role as the manager of the structural analysis team at Northrop Grumman during the development of the B2 bomber.

After retiring from the aerospace industry, he served in various capacities at the Filipino Christian Church in Los Angeles. He attended the church as a child, and later met his wife there when he returned to Los Angeles for work as an adult.

Paul was husband to Rebecca Dumapias Paular for 48 years until her passing in 2013. He often joked that they still held hands after many years so she could hold him up. Together, they raised their children, imparted their faith, love of music and cooking, and shared their home with those in need.
Musically, he played clarinet, flute, and saxophone.

Paul is survived by his brother Corny, son Anthony (Shannon), daughters Cynthia (Bryan), Doralinda, Gina (Scott), and Jessilyn (Paul); eleven grandchildren—Jasmine, Ashley, Miranda, Sophia, Frank, Kennedy, Alyssa, Lila, Alex, Dominic, and Savannah Mae, as well as great-grandson, Maverick.
