Patricia Richelli

August 19, 1932 — August 23, 2020

“Patricia Ann (McCowan) Richelli was born on August 19,1932. She was born in San Pedro California at home on 20th and Walker. Raised in San Pedro with her family, parents John and Addie Mae McCowan, and brother Ayers, sister Bernice. She attended Leland Elementary, Dana Junior High School, and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1950/1951?
She met and fell in love with William Richelli of San Pedro and were married on April 6, 1952. They were blessed with three children, Sandra, David, and Gail. She was a homemaker and loved being a mom, always volunteering at school, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts , room mom, cooking and baking.
In 1973 she lost her husband Bill, but somehow she carried on with the help of her family and was strong for her young family.
She then started working in the LA Unified school district as a special ed teachers assistant, Harlan Schoemaker, Leland street school, and Barton Hill elementary where she worked for 20 years.
In 1984 she became a grandmother to her first grandchild Lindsey. She loved being a grandmother more than anything, it was truly her joy. Then more grandkids to follow, Zachary, Amanda, Tricia, Matthew, Kathryn, Nikki, and Sean. She was also blessed by a step-granddaughter Marissa.
A piece of her heart broke when she lost her son David in 1998. It was hard but she kept on going with the love of her family and God which gave her strength.
Patricia loved the holidays, birthdays, and gathering with her family. Cooking and baking for her family and friends to show her love. She would celebrate your joy and cry in your sorrows.
Patricia loved her home, enjoyed decorating, and entertaining her family with many Christmas Eves and Breakfast on Christmas morning.
She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren. If you talked to her, you would shortly find out about her family. Many of her nieces and nephews said she was a second mom to them, friends of her children stated that Pat always treated them as though they were part of the family. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home.
She was blessed again by becoming a great grandmother to Claire, Chloe, and William Mamelli, and Miles Gerulis. There is also another baby on the way.
Her health problems and mobility was a struggle for her over the last few years. The family would like to thank Ocean Breeze owners and staff for taking care of our mother and showing love and care to her and her family as well.
She will be missed deeply and has left us with the legacy of love.
