Patricia A. Mercier

Patricia A. Mercier was called to her eternal reward on April 25, 2013. Patricia was born on November 21, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lynn and Helen Ford. Patricia attended school in Des Moines, where she met her first husband, John James Carton. Patricia and John were married in 1954, upon the return of John from Marine Corps service in the Korean conflict. Patricia and John lived in several states until 1968, when the family settled in Torrance, California.
Patricia remained married to John until 1975, when John passed away. At that time, she was the mother of three children, John David, Phillip James, and Joseph Paul Carton.
After the death of her husband John, Patricia found herself a single mother. She returned to school, becoming an LVN, where she worked with special education children for Los Angeles County. During this period of her life, she met and married Phillip Mercier in 2000. Patricia and Phil continued to reside in Torrance, until Phil passed away. Patricia was active in the Walteria United Methodist Church, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, music and helping others.
Patricia is survived by her three sons, two daughters' in-law, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
