A resident of Rancho Palos Verdes since 1967, passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2023. Patricia was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 27, 1933. She is survived by her three children; Cindy Marquand and husband Chris, Chris Arand and wife Denise, and Tony Arand; her grandchildren; Aimee Merrilees and husband Mike, Nick Marquand and wife Cori, Elizabeth Hansen and husband Jeremy, Suzanne McDonnell and husband Mike, Max Arand and Lea Herb; and her great-grandchildren; Mitchell, Juliette and Samantha Merrilees, Molly and Grace Hansen and Carter Marquand. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law Mary Whitley and Helen Arand; her nephews Steve and Eddie Beverage; and her nieces Diane Dilbert, Debbie Highfill and Glenna Short. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Arand.

Patricia was the owner of Patricia Arand Piano Studio and taught piano for 44 years. She graduated from Sharonville High School in Sharonville, Ohio and attended the Baldwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music. She was currently an active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC), South Bay Branch. Dating back to 1995, Patricia held many positions such as President, VP Membership, Composers Today Committee Chair and currently held the position of Parliamentarian. In 2014 Patricia was the recipient of the Lifetime Service Award, the highest honor presented by MTAC. Patricia was also an active member of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers and Mu Phi Epsilon – Palos Verdes/South Bay. She loved teaching piano lessons and was very proud of her students and their accomplishments, particularly in the Composers Today program.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved every minute she could spend with her family, whether it be cooking for a family dinner, traveling on a trip, teaching the art of crocheting, or snuggling with a child and a good story. She was an accomplished seamstress, designing patterns for everything from doll clothes to upholstery. She adored her Sheltie, Tim who was her beloved companion for 16 years. She was an avid gardener and loved her beautiful home in Rancho Palos Verdes. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, students and all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the Green Hills Chapel.
