Patricia Jane Mannino, "Patt", of Rancho Mirage, California went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2017 in Santa Monica, California after a short illness. She was born September 22, 1929 in San Pedro, California to Elfleda and Vern Ayres. Patt was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dominic, whom she missed dearly every single day. She is survived by her children Jodi Nevandro (Dennis), Jay Mannino and Jan Satterfield-Harrell (Chris), adopted daughter Dr. Dee Anthoney, eight grandchildren, Christopher Mannino (Leslie), Jason Mannino (Katie), Lindsey Reevie (Greg), Emilee Satterfield, Hailee Satterfield, Kimberly Roth (Brandon), Jacob Nevandro and Cassidy Nevandro and three great grandchildren, Blake and Madelyn Mannino and Joe Reevie. Patt worked as a telephone operator in San Pedro where she rode the local bus and fell for the driver on her route. Dominic liked to say he had to marry Patt because she wouldn't get off his bus – they were married on April 23, 1949. Their dream to start their own bus company, M & M Charter Lines, was realized in the 1950's. As partners they grew the company, raised their children, worked hard, and contributed in many ways to the community. Upon retirement they moved to the desert where they enjoyed golfing, the theatre and fundraising activities for various charities including the Catholic Church, Eisenhower Medical Center, and the American Cancer Society. They were members of Morningside Country Club, the San Pedro Elks Club, and founding members of the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert. In 2006 Patt was awarded the Celebration of Life Award by the American Cancer Society. As a survivor of breast cancer she was passionate about volunteering as a Reach to Recovery Visitor and a founding member of the Desert Spirit Committee. Patt also enjoyed volunteering for the Bob Hope Classic golf tournament. She loved her dog Mimi, her Starbucks, her Lemon Drop martinis, Big Band music, and of course her family and friends. The family would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Bill Benjamin and Elsa Tipton for their care and friendship.
Mom-Nana, our hearts are heavy and we miss you so very much. We are comforted knowing that you are with Daddy dancing the Balboa and resting in his embrace. We thank God that He gave us you as our mother and our nana. You are our inspiration and the wind beneath all our wings. We love you enough.
A celebration of Patt's life will be held at Green Hills Chapel on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
