Pamela Ann Woods, 62, daughter, sister and friend passed away Friday evening, March 8 surrounded by family and close friends. Pam's courageous 3 1/2-year battle with cancer was met with the dignity and stoicism her friends knew as an innate part of her personality. Never one to burden others, she faced this challenge with her usual quiet strength. Pam's many interests reflected her creativity and love of life. Along with her mother Cynthia and sister Antoinette, she established CynPam's Poodles in 1967, breeding and showing miniature poodles. Her passion for dog shows extended to her professional life, where she enjoyed helping dog show exhibitors while working for Jack Bradshaw Dog Show Superintendents. Exhibitors often sought Pam out at dog shows to thank her for her help and patience. When not at work, Pam often was found in her garden which blossomed with prize-winning dahlias and other flowers. In her quiet time, she was often found working a painstaking and complex counted cross stitch design or reading a book. Pam is survived by her father Richard H. "Dick" Woods, brother Richard, his wife Jean; sisters Antoinette "Toni" Woods of Gardena; and Victoria Susan "Suzi" Gieseke and her husband Jerry. She also is survived by nephews and nieces, Richard, Robin, Abraham, Kip and Rebecca of Hazelton, Iowa, and Tony, Sandy and Adam of Perry, Iowa. She was predeceased by her mother, Cynthia. A 1973 graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills, Pam was a lifelong Californian. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m., Friday, April 5 at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. A private inurnment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the South Coast Botanical Gardens.
