Olivia G Rodriguez

February 20, 1944 — June 12, 2024

Olivia Rodriguez, also lovingly known as Nana, passed away on June 12th, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on February 20th, 1944 in San Gaspar de Los Reyes, Jalisco, Mexico. She was the oldest of eight children to Jesus and Hermelinda Gonzalez.

In 1960, she came to the US and started a new life with her husband Jose Rafael Rodriguez. He proceeded her in death in 2021.

One of her greatest accomplishments, besides her children, was becoming a U.S. citizen in the early 2000s.

Olivia was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her. She was willing to open her home and kitchen to everyone that stepped into it.

Throughout her life, she found joy in the simple things in life such as traveling, crocheting, having a blast at the slot machines in Vegas, chatting away on the phone, or spending quality time with any of her six children: Vidal (Raquel), Irene, Charlie (Onnie), Angie, Genie (Heath), Julie (Jason), 17 grandchildren and great-grandson.

She also had an eye for decorating and was known for having the “Best Decorated Christmas House” in her neighborhood. Her creative spirit and attention to detail made her home a magical place during her favorite holiday.

Her smile was infectious and she was able to light up every room she entered and brought comfort to those around her. Her positive attitude and unwavering optimism even as she battled colon and liver cancer was truly inspiring. Even with all of her health battles, she passed after sustaining a fall, and she fought for 12 consecutive days. Unfortunately, she was never able to open her beautiful hazel eyes again.

We will hold her in our hearts and remember the special bonds we have with her. Her laughter, wisdom, recipes and love will continue to guide us in the days ahead. A service to celebrate Olivia’s life will be held at Green Hills, July 5th, 2024 at 11:30 AM where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and legacy.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and memories will be cherished forever. Rest in peace, Nana. Your light will forever shine bright in our hearts.
