In Loving Memory of Ofresia Lopez Sotelo Baldwin

May 1, 1940 – September 26, 2021

Ofresia was born in Arivaca, Arizona on May 1, 1940 to parents Manuela and Adrian Sotelo. She passed on September 26 after a long battle with lung disease, surrounded by family at her home in Torrance, California.

Ofresia attended Patagonia High School and Gregg Business College. In 1958, she married and moved to Southern California. She started her family by having sons Ray, Ruben and David Rojes.

On May 10, 1975, she married Marvin Baldwin and lived in Carson, California. She then had sons Adam and Alex Baldwin for a total of five boys. With their machine shop business starting to be successful, they were able to travel the world, which was exciting but she always loved returning to her home.

She worked over 15 years with the Los Angeles and Torrance school districts in many capacities. Her most enjoyable job was her translator position for Torrance Unified School District. Ofresia had many interests, including bowling, dancing, sewing, gardening and embroidering. She enjoyed watching and attending her sons sporting events. Her favorite thing was cooking for the family. Everyone loved her delicious tamales. Above all, she was known for her massive collection of elephants with the trunk up, facing the front door for good luck.

Ofresia is survived by her husband, Marvin; sons, Ray (Kathleen), Ruben (Annie), David (Dena), Adam (Terra) and Alex (Lisa), 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and sister Ofelia.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Adrian and Manuela Sotelo; brothers Adam, Adrain, Alfredo, Armando, Arnoldo and sister Hortensia.

She will be missed by many, especially her husband Marvin, her children, grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
