Norma Abaya Almero

Norma Abaya Almero passed away on February 24, 2019 at the age of 77. Born in the Ilocos Sur province of the Philippines on January 29, 1942 to Aurora and Osmundo Abaya, Norma attended The University of Santo Tomas in Manila where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1962. Norma married Jess Almero, Sr. in 1965 and soon after emigrated to the Detroit area of Michigan before finally settling in Southern California. Her longtime career as a dialysis nurse in the Los Angeles area spanned nearly 50 years. She is survived by her children, Lani (Brian) Almero-Schrunk, Joni (Thomas) Garcia, Jess Almero, Jr., grandchildren, Jeremy Garcia, Lauryn Garcia, Ethan Almero-Schrunk, Owen Almero-Schrunk and Cruz Garcia. Visitation will be held at 4:30 pm-8:30 pm on Sunday, March 10 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, March 11 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel followed by interment.
