Ning Wong left this world on June 16, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family. He was 92.
Ning Wong was born on January 28, 1929, in St. Paul, Minnesota to his mother Lee Shee and father Wong Wing. His family was from the Guangdong province of China.
Ning helped out in his family’s laundromat, developing a strong work ethic, business sense and devotion to family. As a child, he tinkered with things and followed adults when they repaired various objects.
He was drafted into the Army in 1951 during the Korean War. Ning served stateside and attained the rank of corporal.
Using his GI Bill, Ning enrolled in the University of Minnesota where he studied mechanical engineering. After graduating with a bachelors in science, Ning moved to Oak Park, Illinois with other family members so he could work at an electrical company.
It was there in 1962, he met the love of his life, Sarah Tang. The two wed after dating for a month. The couple started a new life bouncing around the country from Mountainview, California, Alabama then back to California as Ning pursued a career in engineering. They finally moved to Los Angeles County in 1965. Ning first worked at TRW. He eventually worked for Aerospace Engineering Corp. where he remained as a technical writer until he retired.
The couple moved into a house with Ning’s mother and Uncle Charlie. They raised a girl and boy.
Ning was the glue of the family and enjoyed spending time with them. He doted on his grandson.
Ning is survived by his wife Sarah Wong, daughter Audrey Wong, son William Wong, daughter in law Jessica Wong, grandson Elijah Wong, and many relatives.
