Nellie Hernandez Savala

June 26, 1934 — October 18, 2018

There is only one mother in a child’s life. Moms give so much to raise and provide for their children; our mom was no different. Mom was the mother that thought about others before thinking about herself. She was a very compassionate and giving woman.

Mom fought a good fight and endured her illness with stride and because of her will and determination she possessed she gave her family one last gift before being called to heaven. Her determination was evident when she continued to fight against her illness until her family could be by her side to wish her a safe journey to heaven. As the family members held her hand and whispered in her ear that she will be in no longer be in pain, our great Lord took her to rest in eternal peace in heaven. Mom fought a hard fight until the end and a great mother and grandmother will be missed by her loved ones.

Mom was born in Ellie Bristol, Texas on June 26, 1934. Mom moved to California
and worked in the maintenance department of Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California. She worked so hard to provide for her family.

Mom loved cooking, playing the slots at the casinos, listening to a variety of Latin music, but what she cherished the most was spending quality time with her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent her life surrounded by those who loved her dearly until she was called to heaven.

Mom is survived by her sons Steve, Trinidad and daughter Gilda. Grandchildren: Salina, Jessica, Tiana, Jayline, Jessica, Isaac, Arturo, Alex, Richard, Gilbert, Robert, Earl and Great grandchildren: Andrew, Lola, Liza, Manuel, Jesse, Isaac Jr, Joseph, Isabelle, Arthur Jr, Joslyn, Gilbert Jr, Jacob, Evie, Kiera and Arianna. Nellie was predeceased by her sons, Manuel, Robert, Ralph, Pete and daughter Teresita Savala and granddaughter Christina Savala.

A great mother she was, taken way too soon from our family and if we had one final wish that wish, would have been to spent the holidays with her before she was called to Heaven.
