Narcisa “Nancy” Sia Malicay was born in La Paz, Leyte, Philippines on October 29, 1926. While in the Philippines, Narcisa met and married the love of her life, Angelo Malicay. Once Angelo’s service to the US Army was completed, the family relocated to San Pedro in 1955, where she resided for 61 years. Narcisa spent her last years in the Lakewood/Long Beach area. She passed away on August 28, 2019.
Narcisa was part of the rich fabric of San Pedro’s history, as she worked at Pan Pacific Cannery 32 years, finishing her career as a Quality Control Clerk. She raised her four daughters with the love of tennis and piano.
She enjoyed cooking traditional Filipino cuisine and would showcase her talents as a host at many parties. Her hobbies included tending to her rose garden, shopping and babysitting her grandchildren.
Narcisa attended Rolling Hills Covenant Church. She was a member of the choir and volunteered on many committees. In her later years, she learned to play the piano, the art of flower arranging and traveling with her church friends. She was passionate about what she believed, and she was unfettered in voicing her point of view.
Narcisa was predeceased by her husband, Angelo and daughter Noniluna. She leaves behind her daughters, Patricia (Jim) Combs, Nora Malicay and Virginia (Dave) Soto; grandchildren Scott (Lesly) Combs, Steven Combs, Karen Soto, Laura (Steve) Doyal and David Soto; Great-grandchildren Alyssa Ortiz, Hunter, Kennedy and Paige Combs, Victoria and Stephen Doyal and Eleanor Soto.
Viewing at 11:15am on Fri 9/20 followed by funeral services at 11:30am in the Memorial Chapel at Green Hills and dedication at gravesite to follow.
