Nancy Jane Saiz

March 5, 1952 — May 11, 2020

Nancy Jane (Blodgett) Saiz, age 68, resident of Palos Verdes Shores Mobile Estates, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 11, 2020. Nancy was born in 1952 to Thomas William Blodgett and Helen Names Blodgett in Long Beach, CA. She was the eldest of three daughters, one whom died in infancy (Susan Jean). She is survived by her sister, Claudia (Sue) Blodgett.

Nancy attended schools in the Los Angeles area, graduating in 1970 from Morning side High School in Inglewood. She is fondly remembered by friends who had remained in touch with Nancy through the years. She will be remembered as sweet, outgoing, and always smiling with a contagious laugh.

Retired from Toyota Corporate in Torrance after 38 years where she served in many positions from PBX operator to sales to event coordinator, Nancy leaves her many coworkers with the fondest of memories. Her Toyota family will miss her dearly.

Nancy was a young 20 year-old when she met and then married (1973) the love of her life, Gerald Saiz, who has preceded her in death (2018). Nancy and Gerald were married for a total of 39 years and never stopped loving each other even through the rough times. Their union produced two beautiful children-- now adults, Shauna (Amber) Saiz and Jerod (Kelby) Saiz, who miss their parents deeply. When Belinda (Todd) Mock found her father, Gerald, Nancy gained another daughter and fell in love at first sight. It gave Nancy so much joy to be called grandma by Brandon (Tasha) Thorp, Marcus Thorp, Amanda, and Kailee, and her great grandson , Max.

Many friends and family that Nancy had known over the years felt as if she were a second mother or a treasured sister. Nancy’s extended family fit snugly into the big heart she had for all. She leaves behind her half siblings, Annavieve (Lila) Blodgett and Thom (Ledys) Lane, step- siblings, Steve (Judi) Wood, Carl Wood, Doug (Judi) Wood, and Anne (John) Pichler. Cousins who will miss her include, Denice (Jim) Gagnos, Diane (Dana) Moffett, Linda Cline, David (Sandi) Names, Sue (Matt) Huffman, and so many others to name. Nancy’s In-laws were very much a part of who Nancy was. She cared for Mary (Chris) Vail, Maggie (Ron) Greenbach, Jodi Nichols, and Michael Sherritt. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Joanne Malcom.

During this unprecedented time, funeral services will be held at Green Hills Mortuary and Memory Chapel on May 28, 2020 starting at 9 am, with invited family members only. A celebration of life may be planned at the outcome of the Covid-19 stay-at-home order. Please share memories, pictures, and prayers for Nancy and her family on Greenhillsmorturary.com website.
