Nancy Burke passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in San Diego on October 12th. Nancy was born in San Pedro, California to Howard and Helen Price. She attended North Hollywood High School in Los Angeles and Pomona College where she met her husband of 64 years James L. Burke. After her husband's Air Force service in the Korean War, she lived in Tustin, California where she taught elementary school before moving to La Jolla, California for eight years. The family then moved to Palos Verdes Estates where they lived for 24 years before retiring to The Vintage Club in Indian Wells, California in 1988. Nancy had many passions; the back country in and around Mammoth Lakes, travelling with her husband around the world and spending time with good friends at The Vintage Club. She began going to Mammoth Lakes as a young child and spent many years there skiing, hiking and golfing. She worked tirelessly for many charitable organizations including the Peninsula Committee for Children's Hospital, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Living Desert, The Vintage Employee Scholarship Fund, among many others. She is survived by her husband James L. Burke, sons Bob and Mike, daughters in law Liz and Mary as well as her beloved grandchildren Lauren, Cammie, Courtney and Tommy. She was a loving wife and mother and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in November in Indian Wells.
