Myrtle Kaneshiro, 90, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022. Myrtle was born on Dec. 31, 1931, in Kukuihaele, a small town located on the Big Island of Hawaii. She was the fourth of seven children born to Shunsuke and Tamano Fujioka. In 1956 Myrtle and her husband of 55 years, Hiroshi (Hideo), moved from Hawaii to Southern California. There they spent the next 52 years building their lives together with their three children, until Hideo’s passing in 2008.
Myrtle’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends. Whether going to her kids/grandkids activities or sporting events, fishing in the Sierras, playing bingo, watching movies, or participating in her favorite activity, country western line dancing, she was happy as long as she was with other people.
Myrtle is survived by her children, Deborah, Craig, and Lance (Cathy); grandchildren, Jared (Eudora), Jazmin (Shawn), Keanu, Colby, Ryan, and Alyssa; great grandchildren, Cameron, Bella, and Mikaela; siblings Caroline, Lawrence (Katherine) and Elaine.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Memorial Chapel of Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
The family requests casual/aloha attire.
