Morris Louis Lorber

Morris Louis Lorber passed away at age 77 on Wednesday, December 3 at 11:30pm from complications related to Leukemia. In his final moments, he was surrounded by family members.
Born in Denver, Colorado on January 30, 1937 to Francis Anna Cohen and Milton B. Cohen, he graduated from Yale University in 1959 with a B.A. in English, and a Medical Degree from the University of Colorado. He met Judith Miriam Paymar and they wed in 1963, and had two children, Felice and Jason. He served as a physician in the Navy in the late 1960s. He practiced neurology in Gardena, California. He married Sophan Tan in 2001.
Morris had many accomplishments, including being a proud father and grandfather, loving husband, accomplished neurologist, Long Beach Police volunteer, and Silver Life Master at bridge. He was known to joke around and yell at the TV, offering expert advice to game show contestants or Lakers and Dodgers players. In addition to spending time with his family, he loved playing bridge with friends at the Lomita Bridge Club, reading poetry, traveling, and winning dozens of certificates for the top 50 doctors taking exams online.
He is survived by a wonderful family, including his wife Sophan Lorber of Torrance, CA, and her children Rosanna and Mallory; his daughter Felice "Lisa" Lorber Lonigro of San Diego and her husband Frank, and their children Madeleine and Joey; and his son Jason Paymar Lorber of Burlington, VT, and his husband Nathaniel, and their son Maxwell Elliott Lorber-Lew.
Services will be held on Sunday, December 7 at 11am at Green Hills Memorial at 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, officiated by family friend Rabbi Evan Goodman, followed by a celebration of his life at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
