MONROE COTNER
June 26, 1921 – July 17, 2013
Monroe Cotner, 46-year resident of Manhattan Beach, passed away July 17th at the age of 92. He was born and raised on a family farm near Booneville, AR. Monroe spent his entire 41-year career in aerospace with North American Aviation (Rockwell), which included 2 years with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He often spoke about his time as a project manager/engineer on the B-1 program. During his 32 years of retirement, he enjoyed travelling throughout the US and doing projects for family and neighborhood friends. These projects included woodworking, house and auto repairs and construction. He enjoyed morning walks in his east Manhattan Beach neighborhood, conversing with everyone he met along the way. He was a fantastic storyteller with an extraordinary memory. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, his first wife Vergie, and his wife Lola (Ginger). He is survived by his two children, Douglas and Rosemary; four step-children, Michael, Catherine, Larry and Randall; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Monroe will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Ginger in a graveside service at Green Hills Memorial Park on Friday, July 26th at noon. This generous man will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or give generously of your time.
