Miyoko "Mary" Higashi Shundo (11-14-1924 to 06-08-2022) was born and raised on Terminal Island until the removal of Japanese Americans during WWII. After her family's internment in Poston, Arizona, Mary later settled in San Pedro after marrying Jack Shundo, a local tuna fisherman. Mary was the PTA President and a Cub Scout Leader during Donnie's younger years. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed crocheting, playing slots in Vegas, and cooking Japanese dishes for her annual New Year's Day celebrations. She is survived by son Donnie Shundo (Connie), granddaughter Michelle, nieces Paula Higashi, Elizabeth Higashi, Janis McTimmonds; nephews Keith Higashi, Kirby Higashi, Ronnie Higashi and their families; Special neighbors Bobby and Sylvia Hinojosa. Mary always helped family and friends and will be remembered for her caring and generous nature.
