With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Mildred Helen (Betz) Schulz, on July 12, 2016 at the age of 91. Mildred was born March 27, 1925 in Vancouver, Washington to Charles and Mabel Betz, the youngest of ten children. After a childhood she always described as wonderful and happy, she came to California in 1945 to work with her sisters on a Navy base in San Diego. Mildred moved to Los Angeles and worked as a secretary for the Adoption Institute. Later in life, she worked as a secretary at La Primera Preschool in Torrance. Mildred married the love of her life, Herbert Alvin Schulz, on February 8, 1957 and they moved to Torrance, where she lived for the past 59 years. Mildred and Herb were blessed with four children. Mildred would tell you that her most important role in life was as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and nothing mattered to her more than the well-being of her family. She was a hardworking, strong, independent woman who loved and enjoyed her family above everything else, but also enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling. Mildred is predeceased by her husband Herb and son-in-law Gary Prange. She is survived by her four children and a son-in-law: Karen, Janet and Manuel Garcia, Linda Prange, and Rick; five grandchildren: Kristina and Jessica Martinez, and Lisa, Jeremy, and William Prange; sister-in-law Mary Guggisberg of Vernon, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. Please join Mildred's family and friends for a memorial service at 9:00am on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, 310 831-0311.
