Michael Ray Remington (72), of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully in his sleep next to his beloved wife, Christine Lefave-Remington, on February 8 2023 after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Michael, fondly known as Mike, was born to Thelma and JW Remington and older brother Ron on February 23, 1950 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The family moved to California when Mike was in elementary school where he lived until adulthood. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports, being a teammate, and learning life lessons from his coaches. He received a scholarship to play football at Fresno State University.
After graduating, he became a teacher and coached hundreds in football, the game he most loved, in Oregon. He then utilized his magnetic personality and people skills with a career change in pharmaceutical sales. He moved to New Hampshire where he ended his working career teaching and coaching high school sports before retiring.
Mike is survived by his wife Chris and four children, Jen (and husband Dean), Khris (and husband Taylor), Mike (and partner Cassie), and Todd. He is also survived by his brother, Ron Remington and wife, Sandra along with many loved nieces and nephews. He leaves behind 7 loving grandchildren; Carly, Ashlee, Simone, Drew, Shahman, Chloe and Walker. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Thelma and JW.
Aside from his love of football, teaching and working with people, Mike was passionate about all the dogs in his life. He had a special connection with all of them. Woodworking and traveling were two constants in his life as well. He enjoyed weekend projects working around the houses he owned. He beautifully remodeled/ restored their Antique New Englander farmhouse, originally built in 1864, into a 4 unit home for many families to live in over the years. He and Chris traveled across the country, always accompanied by their fur babies, multiple times in their RV to visit family on the west coast.
Mike was a skilled listener, brilliant advice source and loved his “crew” deeply. His positive outlook and presence will be truly missed.
