Michael Pursey, a resident of Harbor City, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends at 9:22 pm on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Long Beach, California at the age of 62.
Michael is survived by his wife, Susana, and their two kids, Jonathan and Christina. He is also survived by siblings, David (South Carolina) and Lisa (Florida), along with half-brother, Michael James (New Hampshire). Michael is pre-deceased by his parents Ronald and Shirley, step-father Joe, and sister Pamela.
Michael was born on February 16, 1960 in Brunswick, Maine, to his father Ronald Pursey and mother Shirley Gehrke. He graduated from high school in 1978 in Rantoul, Illinois. Michael grew up traveling and moving to numerous places, including Germany, because step-father, Joe, was in the Air Force.
In 1981, Michael joined the US Air Force where he worked as security police. His first station was located in Clark Air Force base in the Philippines, where he met the love of his life, Susana. This was the start of a beautiful 41 year relationship (39 years married). In 1985, Jonathan was born and Christina in 1995. After 14 years, he left the Air Force. In the early 2000s he began his career at LA Harbor College where he retired in 2021 as Facilities Operations Manager.
Michael’s hobbies included spending time with family, riding his Harley, attending numerous Seahawks and Angels games, and visiting numerous casinos. He enjoyed spending time with his two grandkids, Meah and Nathan. His favorite travel destinations were Seattle and Las Vegas.
Michael will be deeply missed by all his family, friends and all who knew him.
A viewing is scheduled for Green Hills on Monday, November 7th, from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8th, at 11:30 am at Green Hills main Chapel with Chaplain Brad Stetson officiating. Wake to follow at Raffaello Ristorante.
