Michael Morrah, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, best friend, and friend, passed away the afternoon of Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 at the age of 67.
Michael lived a life defined by faith, family, and unwavering devotion. A man who placed nothing above his love for Jesus and his family, he was the true embodiment of strength, guidance, and unconditional love.
He was a devoted husband who believed he had been blessed with the most beautiful and brilliant wife—a woman he often said always had the right answer. Together, they built a life grounded in love and mutual respect. He stood as a steady hand, a constant support, and a master of all trades—always there to help and teach his children. Whether it was building furniture from scratch, subwoofers, pergolas, installing appliances, remodeling homes including framing, plumbing, and electrical, fixing cars, or completing the smallest of repairs, he did it all with love and a patient heart.
As a father and grandfather, his devotion knew no bounds. He found immense joy in being present for his children and grandchildren—from the earliest days of caring for them to picking them up from school, coaching their sports teams, and cheering them on in everything they did. He was their biggest fan, their teacher, and their hero.
A winning coach with a heart for service, Michael led his children and their teams to countless victories, not just on the field, but in life. Through youth sports, vacation Bible school, and launching youth sports leagues, he left a legacy of leadership, encouragement, and faith in his community. His kindness, integrity, and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Some of his greatest joys were fishing with his family, riding his dirt bikes and motorcycles, talking sports, passing on his love for art and freehand drawing to his grandchildren, bantering and rolling around town with his Ace (daughter Lauren), rolling in one of his fully accessorized Camaros listening to Earth, Wind & Fire with his wife Jill, and spending afternoons at the gym and park—watching his grandchildren ball while sharing stories with a smile that lit up the space around him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Mary Elizabeth Morrah, his brother Ernest McGriff, his sister Cynthia Cox, Step-Father Andre (Dadio) McGriff, and his father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Jill Morrah; his 3 children Eric Morrah and his wife Timmeda, Cameron Morrah and his wife Kristin, and Lauren Morrah; his 5 grandchildren Eric “Eli” Morrah, Axel Morrah, Ethan Morrah, Lennox Morrah, and Roux Morrah; sister Stephanie McGriff; his mother in law Fannie Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends—all of whom will carry his legacy forward with pride and love.
He was and will always be our hero. Though he has gone home to be with our Heavenly Father, he will forever watch over us with the same loving care he gave in life. His love endures, his spirit remains, and he will be deeply missed—forever loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 South Western Avenue Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 with Reverend Willie Lewis officiating followed by burial.
