At the age of 96, Michael Mestrovich passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2018 in San Pedro. Michael was born on February 10, 1922 in San Pedro and was 66 year resident of the South Bay and a former 30 year resident of Orange County. Michael was a proud veteran having served his country during World War II in the 548th Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. Stationed in Germany in the European theater area, his job included reporting to the battalion enemy aircraft, any guns, tanks or enemy patrols. In his spare time he was a master carpenter building custom furniture. Michael was predeceased by his wife Jennie. He is survived by his daughter, Nina (Rene) Herrera; son, Phillip (Diana) Mestrovich; grandchildren, Brendon Herrera, Danielle (Jason) Lomonaco, Lauren and Alyssa Mestrovich; great-grandson Jason Lomonaco, great-granddaughter Mylah Acosta; nieces, Luci Lussing and Toni Renault. Visitation will be held 4:30pm to 7pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in the Villetta Suite of Green Hills Mortuary. A graveside service will be held at Green Hills on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 12pm.
