February 9, 1955 – December 16, 2024 Michael Steven Kin Hamamoto, 69-year-old Los Angeles born resident of San Pedro peacefully passed away on the morning of Monday, December 16th 2024. Michael was born in Los Angeles California at the Japanese Hospital of Los Angeles on February 9, 1955 to the proud parents of Dennis and Janice Hamamoto. The “Kin” in his name was a tribute to his late grandfather Kinzuichi Hamamoto. He was the oldest of four children and grew up in the city of Gardena California attending Gardena High School and then California State University, Long Beach where he graduated with a Pre-Med degree in Medical Microbiology. Michael’s first marriage to Ruth (Goldberg) Hamamoto blessed him with a son Daniel and a daughter Stephanie who he loved dearly. Michael cherished the time he had with his children and family, especially the hours of cooking with his siblings, mother and father in preparation for each New Year’s Day celebration. Michael is currently married to Ida Sutton whom he’s spent time enjoying his favorite eating places and participating in Race Walks. Michael loved to do handyman projects, work in his garage, enjoyed watching action and western movies, and spending time with his family. He spent hours helping his parents as they aged running errands for them and always driving them to their appointments. Michael will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving son, brother, father and husband and will be dearly missed. Michael is survived by his wife Ida Sutton, son Daniel (Sinai) Hamamoto, daughter Stephanie (Cole) Wangrud, brothers Patrick (Kathleen) Hamamoto and Vincent “Vinnie” (Etsuko) Hamamoto, and sister Denise (Wayne) Kawafuchi and many nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his father Dennis and mother Janice. Graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on January 15, 2025 at 12:30PM
