Merlinda Victoria Nafarrete Flores Guerrero, 83, of Carson, CA passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
Merlinda was born in San Fernando, La Union, Phillippines on July 21, 1935, to Sotero Casuga Flores and Magdelana Ulanday Nafarrete.
She began her first year of college at the Philippine Women’s University in Manila. Following her second year of study she matriculated to the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines where she received her Bachelors degree in English in 1955.
She started teaching in 1956 for 7+ years at Christ the King College in her hometown of San Fernando, La Union, Philippines.
She was the founding president of The Ladies Auxilliary of the Fleet Reserve, Unit 302, in Carson, CA.
She founded the first Filipino Club - Asian Club at Wilmington Jr. High School where she was an Educator.
She retired after 35+ years as an ESL(English as a Second Language) teacher at Wilmington Jr. High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Merlinda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jesus B. Guerrero; her daughters Belinda, Leilani and Teresa (deceased); her sons Andrew and Jason; her grandsons Ryan, Shaun and Morgan; her great grandchildren Aya, Amelie, Massan, Ziggy and Kingston; and her sisters Nemesia Tumaneng and Avelina Dela Cruz and brother Tito Flores (deceased).
In loving memory of our dearly departed Teresa Guerrero-Sullivan (daughter), Christopher Flores (nephew), and all of our loved ones that are in the arms of our Lord.
