Melvin D. Mayberry

Melvin Douglas Mayberry was born March 9, 1940 in Maine. He grew up with 8 siblings. Mel was married to Mary Ann and they had 3 children, Michelle, Melanie and Melvin II. After his children were grown, Mel and his wife were divorced.

Mel worked in the auto industry for over 45 years. He was the manager of Del Amo Dodge when he met Darlene. She was one of the Sales Associates. When the owner of Del Amo Dodge passed away, the dealership was sold. Mel then worked at the Mitsubishi Dealership and later he became the finance manager of South Bay Lexus. He retired several years ago.

Mel married Darlene Nov. 5, 1987, they just celebrated their 31st anniversary on Nov. 5, 2018.

Darlene has been in the acute care facility in San Pedro for 3 1/2 years. Mel faithfully visited Darlene every day until he got sick about 3 months ago.

Since then, he was in physical therapy hospitals for a while, he was in the bed next to Darlene until he again was rush to the hospital.

Now, he is in a better place...
