It is with our broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Melinda Daisy Chapman Subia, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at her residence in Anaheim Hills, California, at the age of 81. She has been a Southern California & Orange County resident for the past 7 decades.
Born last & sixth to Drexel & Grace Chapman in Borger, Texas, on December 19, 1941, she and her family settled in Compton, California, in 1944. She attended Baptist Day School; Mayo Elementary School; Roosevelt Middle School; and Compton High School. Literally Straight Outta Compton. :)
Through the years, she was honored with numerous awards & TV appearances for her accomplishments in singing; acting; & straight-up being a STAR. Melinda married her one and only love, Edward Subia, on October 28, 1960. Together they raised their 2 loving children, Terry (62) and Jason (47).
An exemplary & unwavering Christian, she gave generously & consistently to those in need including countless charities, animal shelters, seniors, friends, & homeless. She did everything she could to help anyone & everyone, & always illuminated any room she stepped into. A magnetic, natural born star, the world was her stage - captivating audiences by singing with her ukulele, sharing the gospel, or pulling out a surprise from her unforgettable ‘bag of tricks’.
Adored by her family, she was a dedicated & loving wife, mother, grandmother, & friend. The impact of her vibrant & giving spirit stretches far & wide and will forever live on in all the hearts of those she touched. While our world will never be the same ‘without’ her, there’s no doubt our ‘Warrior of God’ is now one of Heaven’s beautiful angels.
Melinda was an accomplished and compassionate person who possessed a remarkable intellect. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Subia; 2 children, Terry & Jason Subia; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Jacobs Subia; 3 grandchildren, Parker, Evanne, & Chloe Subia; sister-in-law, Kathie Chapman; 8 nieces Beth Ann Rotondo, Sarah, Jeanette, Debbie, & Terri Goeglein, Camyn Chapman, Debbie Hall, & Kajelia Chapman; 7 nephews Johnny, Greg, Patrick, & Matthew Goeglein, John Rotondo, Kirk Dean, & Drexie Ammons; numerous cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews, and many extended family members.
