Melchor Romero Guevara

Melchor “Milo” Guevara, 80, of Redondo Beach, peacefully passed away on February 6, 2023, after being in various hospitals and care facilities due to a traumatic brain injury caused by a fall in 2021.

Born in Daraga, Philippines to Emiliano and Josefina Romero Guevara, Milo was a happy and athletic boy who loved to play basketball. After he graduated from college and landed his first job in the Philippines he had dreams of building a life in the United States. In 1966 he moved to Philadelphia immersing himself in the language and culture of America. In 1973, Milo married Angelina Rodriguez and 3 years later welcomed his son Dean born in Philadelphia on a snowy day in February. He worked as an auditor/accountant in various businesses such as the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, and lastly Amtrak. He was an avid reader, had a passion for writing, and would wake up early in the morning to write short stories. In 2019 he and his wife moved to California to be closer to his son and grandchildren. Left to celebrate Milo’s life are his loving wife Angelina, son Dean, daughter-in-law Flora; his cherished grandchildren Aviela and Asher; his sister Luningning; his step-mother Lina; his half-sisters Emee and Emeline; his sister-in-law Astria; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Milo is preceded in death by his brothers; Robert; Jose; Horacio and Emiliano, Jr.

Melchor's casket will be placed in a mausoleum. Green Hills cemetery is very large so the exact location will be provided closer to the date and there will be most likely signs pointing you in the right direction. The burial service will occur outside the Mausoleum next to the waterfalls.
