May Kemper Rips
February 17, 1932 –May 1, 2014
May was raised in Englewood, Colorado…moved west to Southern California in the early 1950's and quickly became the quintessential California Girl. Over her 82 years, she was a daughter, wife, mother, and aunt full of love…she was a homecoming queen, an artist, world traveler, bridge player, philanthropist, sculptor, bargain finder, art collector, antique shopper, auction attendee, whale watcher, kayaker, harbormaster, beachcomber, biker, golfer, photographer, videographer, gardener, gifter, family historian, arranger, inquirer, saver of everything, party gal, lover of music "and all that jazz," chose hand-made over production line any time, obviously eclectic, and an eccentric entertainer.
She loved her man, Marshall, for 35 years and cherished a beautiful marriage together. From Palos Verdes, they opened new horizons by moving to Victoria, BC in the early 80's where they enjoyed the best of both climates…the great Northwest in summertime and So Cal in the winter. Now they are resting peacefully together somewhere over the rainbow.
She showered love and attention on her three children Kenny, Annamay and Kevin and embraced their spouses too. She adored her grandchildren Blaze, Maddy, and Neena and her godson Scott to the Nth degree. She passes on to them the deep love of family, friendship loyalty, adventure, and creativity.
She loved wide, open spaces and breathtaking views. She appreciated God's beautiful creations living each moment full of life. Now she has the best view of all from above. Aloha!
