Matthew Howard Miller

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one, Matthew “Matt” Miller. Matt passed away June 6, 2018 at the age of 42. Matt was born on October 2, 1975 and grew up in Harbor City, CA. Matt was known to his childhood friends as “gun smoke”, and spent most of his time hanging out, BMX riding, skateboarding, and being a rambunctious teenager. Matt loved being with friends, being a young uncle, causing mischief, collecting all things odd, motorcycles, and dirt bike riding.

At 20, he began dating his childhood best friend, Maureen, and moved to Lomita where he began his adult life. Matt was a member of ILWU Local 13, and worked on the waterfront for over 20 years. In 2005, Matt and Maureen married and welcomed their daughter Amanda whom Matt loved and adored. Matt continued with his passions for work, motorcycles, big trucks, traveling, and family.

Matt is survived by his wife, Maureen, daughter Amanda, niece Livy, nephew Vincent, father Steven, (preceded in passing) by mother Linda, sister Melissa, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm-8:00pm Thursday, June 21st at Green Hills Memorial and a burial service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday June 22nd at Green Hills Memorial.
