Matthew L. "Matty" Matich

Matty Matich (Matthew Louis Matich, born May 5, 2002) passed away tragically July 26, 2018 at the age of 16. Matty was the Love of our lives and he made a lasting impact in his time with us. He was a true young Waterman who felt most at home on his boat. He was a fearless champion sailor with an adventurous spirit and dynamic, enthusiastic personality, winning countless friends and trophies at regattas up and down the west coast, to the Great Lakes and Florida, and especially San Pedro, CA, where he was born and bred. When he was not on the water he was on his skateboard, bombing the hills of his hometown with his friends. Matty is survived by his mother and father, Shirley and Mike Matich, his loving grandmother, Dorothy Matich, uncles Matt Matich and Paul Strasser (Anna), aunts Virginia Mason (Clark) and Patty Kolin (Jeff), and many cousins. A visitation will be held 5:30-8:30PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:30, both at Green Hills Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to House of Hope, Beacon House, Fort MacArthur Museum or the charity of your choice.
