Mary M. Smith

Born in Athens Ohio and raised along with six brothers and sisters in Decatur Illinois, Mary lived for a time in St Louis Mo where she met her Husband Robert in 1945. They were married until his death in 2005. They moved to Long Beach in 1948. Mary enjoyed sewing, embroidery and Knitting, She was an enthusiastic gardener who spent hours caring for her many roses in her N. Long Beach yard. She worked for the LBUSD and LBCC until her retirement in 1981. Following her retirement she remained a member of the LBCC Alumni Association, the Embroidery Guild of America, and an active member of many genealogical societies around the country. Mary is survived by her son, Gary, Daughter-in-law Barbara, and grandchildren Kristoffer and Brianne. A memorial service will be held on Sat. Feb 25 at noon, at North Long Beach Christian Church, 1115 E. Market Street.
