Mary Shields

Mary Theresa Shields died on January 24, 2015 in Torrance, California following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 94 years old.

Mary was born July 31, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. She proudly served the US war effort as a civilian employee at Gardner General Hospital during World War II. She married John Thomas Shields immediately following his wartime service in the U.S. Army in Europe and they moved to California in 1954. John died in 1985.

Mary showed her love for her family every day of her life. She was a patient and supportive wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Caring and supporting her family was her passion. She is deeply missed. She will not be forgotten.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Richard Misenhelter of Tulsa Oklahoma, her son and daughter-in-law, Chas and Linda Shields of San Pedro, CA, her son and daughter-in-law John and Anna Shields of Fallbrook, California, and her daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Bill Forman of Huntington Beach, California, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, brothers Michael Blasco and Joseph Blasco and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on February 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon at Ports O' Call Restaurant in San Pedro, California. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary's life.
