Mary Ann Sharrar

With family at her side, Mary Ann Sharrar died peacefully on July 24, 2013, at age 88 after a brief illness. Mary was born on October 8, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Carl and Marie Benishek. Mary was preceded in death by her older brother, Alois Benishek and her older sister, Helen Horak and is survived by her younger sister, Tina Johnson and younger brother, John Benishek, both Lincoln residents. Mary was the beloved wife of Tony Sharrar for 44 years and we know their spirits are dancing together again to the Big Band music they loved. Mary and Tony moved to Southern California from Lincoln in 1946 and made San Pedro their home in 1955, where Mary lived until her death. Mary is survived by her children, Kim Sharrar (David Wee), Mark Sharrar and Kathy Holcomb (Mitch) and by her grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Laurel, Alexis, Katie and Kyle. Although Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends, we will always remember her generosity, fun-loving nature, spirited discussions and most of all, unconditional love. A Memorial Service for Mary will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6th at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the American Heart Association , the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
