On November 2, 2018 at 90 years of age, she passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Mark and sister-in-law Geraldine Skorlich.
Mary Ann graduated from San Pedro High School in 1947. In 1953 she was reacquainted with her childhood family friend, Cesar (Bud) O. Santos. Love bloomed quickly and they were wed at Holy Trinity Church on August 14, 1954. They spent more than 63 years together in marriage and raised six children in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Monica (Fred Julian), Paul (Audrey), Susan Paulson (Tom), Rebecca Kolk, Mark, John (Sandra).
Mary Ann was a devoted grandmother to Samuel and Elizabeth Julian, Maia and Jesse Santos, Emily, Benjamin and Abigail Paulson, Spencer and Lucas Kolk, Annabelle and Alice Santos, Bridget Skorlich and Miriam Vazquez.
She was a loving Aunt to Kerry Gerot, Mark Skorlich (Jennifer) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was happiest when everyone was home together celebrating family.
Mary Ann was an active member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church where she gave countless hours in service on the Women’s Council and Guild. She also volunteered at St. John Fisher School working at Hot Lunch and Yard Duty. She drove hundreds of miles carpooling and always encouraged her children to be creative, studious and dedicated students.
She was the ultimate homemaker, crafter, an award-winning quilter and member of South Bay Quilting Club. Each baby that joined the family and each grandchild that went off to college received an original quilt that she lovingly handmade. She enjoyed sharing her creations and talents with extended family members and friends. Her cooking and baking are hard to rival. She always made extra to share and made sure we went home with leftovers. She was a collector of many things. She loved decorating, especially at the holidays.
Above all, Mary Ann loved and enjoyed life to the fullest every day. She shared her joy and taught us to treasure each other and to keep memories alive.
