Mary Acain and Loresco Acain
(Funeral: Green Hills Memorial Park on August 14, 2021 @10am )

“Mary” Abao Acain was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on January 13, 2021 at age 78, in Arizona from an unexpected cause. Despite the pain she endured during a few weeks in the hospital, Mary came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Even though her life was cut short, her loving heart left a beacon of light for all our family and friends. She cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Mary was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring and always the first to offer help.

She was born in Tabuyoc, Binalonan Pangasinan (Philippines) to Fedila Valenzuela Abao and Camilo Abao on August 2, 1941. She has one sister Aida de Vera. Along with her sister, they were raised by a single mother and a grandmother (Petra Valenzuela). Sadly for Mary, she never really knew her father who died shortly after her birth. Her father was a Philippine soldier, died during the Japanese invasion to Philippines.

Growing up in the province of Tabuyoc Binalonan, Pangasinan. Mary met the love of her life, “Loresco Acain ”, It was love at first sight. Born and raised in the same provincial town Philippines as Mary. Loresco Castro Acain was born on January 29, 1937 to Nicolas Acain and Jacinta Castro Acain. He was born into a large working family and financially harsh. Loresco was able to continue secondary school and studies at San Fernando, Philippines.

On November 18, 1963, Mary and Loresco were married. The early times were difficult financially. Loresco supported Mary to complete her study to become a teacher. Mary completed her studies at Tomas Claudio College in Morong Rizal, Philippines. She was a beloved 4th grade Teacher at Libis Elementary school, Binangonan Rizal and Loresco continues to work as Certified Plant mechanic at Rizal Cement in Binangonan, Philippines. In 1977-1981, Loresco worked in Saudi Arabia “Brown and Root Company” as stationary mechanic for water desalination.

In 1981, Mary, Loresco and family immigrated to US. They settled into life in Wilmington, California for 38 years. Building a dream for their children. They wanted nothing more for their children to have a wonderful life and bright future. They both spent many years of sacrifice and long hard-work to support their growing children. The devoted years of work with Loresco at Hertz Company and Mary at Haiser Electronics Company.

Loresco Acain passed in peace on January 16, 2021 at age of 83. Loresco was preceded 3 days in death by Mary, his wife for 55 years. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years show his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.Loresco loved music and played any instrument, particularly Guitar and Ukulele. Music is always present at their home and would often sneak on Mary to have spin dance on the music. He loved to be with family and was always up for a picnic, reunion or gathering of friends in casino with Mary. His wife Mary devoted on caring for his husband.

Mary and Loresco led by example. There was never a job too large or too small that they would not tackle. Mary was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Loresco was humble and good provider for his family. They are both strong patriarch of their family, a good friend to all, a man and woman who would give her/his shirt for a friend. They always took care of their children and did the best they could to teach and guide them, a loving parent and grandparents to many.

They are both loving parents of Josie Calayag, Aura Lee, and Malou Corrales. Supportive son-in laws Arnold Calayag, Kevin Lee and Jose Corrales Jr. Proud grandparents of Shawn Calayag, Jasmine Calayag, Justin Calayag, Sophia Lee, Aaron-John Lee, Jonathan Corrales, Andres Jose Corrales III, Jason Corrales and Lorena Corrales.
