Mary Eleanor Leach
August 15, 1926 — March 12, 2019
Born Mary Eleanor Thomas in St. Augustus, Pennsylvania in 1926 to Theresa M. Sheehan Thomas and Anthony W. Thomas.
She attended schools in PA and graduated from Miner’s Hospital Nursing School in Spangler, PA in 1947. She stayed active in her nursing career until retirement in 1988 from San Pedro Peninsula Hospital.
Eleanor met her future husband Joe E. Leach Jr. on assignment in Virginia with Nursing Cadet Corps. They married September 18, 1948 and moved to California after Joe graduated from college in 1950. They settled in San Pedro in 1956.
Eleanor is survived by her sisters, Lucy and Becky, children, and grandchildren.
Her hobbies were bridge, bridge, and more bridge!
She will be greatly missed.
