Mary was born in Arvada Colorado on January 14th 1936 to David and Julia Hatheway.
Parents divorced when Mary was 3 yrs old her brother David was 5. Her mother moved to Oakland Ca. and left the children in an orphanage for about a year while she got settled and found work as a seamstress. They lived in Oakland until around 1945. Mother married again and the family moved to Lomita Ca. Mary attended Orange Street grammar school, Narbonne junior and high school. She went on to graduate from Dental School and become a professional Dental Assistant. She worked in San Pedro for 30 years with Dr. Sher.
She lived in San Pedro until she found it necessary to go into a board and care in the city of Hawthorne. She felt at home in San Pedro and commuted by bus to spend time with old friends at least 3 0r 4 times a month. She knew all of the bus routes, their stops and their times. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of her own clothes. She was an avid photographer. She always had a camera in her pocket.She loved plants and flowers of every kind. She worked on crafting, crochet, knitting and decor. She would almost always give handmade gifts. She had many friends and an adopted family with lots of love to share. She always remembered family birthdays and anniversaries with cards.
