Mary C. Hardy

Mary passed away peacefully in the presence of her family. She was born in Bennettsville, SC and raised there on the family farm. After living in various parts of the country she spent the last 35 years in San Pedro, CA.

Mary graduated as valedictorian from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA with a degree in bio-chemistry. It was during her time in Virginia that she met Robert C Warren, married, and had 3 children. At the golden age of 50 she fulfilled a lifelong ambition, becoming a registered nurse at Torrance Memorial Hospital. She was a devout Presbyterian who was an active member of her church, St. Peters by the Sea. Charity was a large part of Mary's spirit. She enjoyed donating her time and energy at local organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the food bank at Harbor Interfaith Services, and Shawl House.

Matriarch of a large family, she guided us all with the light of wisdom, compassion, love, and faith. mary is survived by sister, Martha Rankin and her husband, Don Rankin; daughter, Mary K. Lauten and her husband, Russ; son, Robert C. Warren and his wife Otilia; niece, Mary Colin Arndt; nephew Donald Rankin; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many cousins.
